While Digital Assistant from Google can be a handy tool, it’s not for everyone. Whether you’re concerned about privacy, find it activating accidentally, or prefer a less complicated digital life, I’ll show you steps for turning off and disabling Google’s Digital Assistant on your android device.

How-to Uninstall Google’s Digital Assistant
- Open the Settings on your Android device
- Scroll down and tap on Apps
- Press on App Management App
- Find Google App
- Select “Force Stop” and or “Disable”

How to Delete Your Google Assistant Activity
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/assistant (for Assistant).
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini (for Gemini).
- There you can view all your past interactions you’ve made with Gemini or Google’s Digital Assistant.
- You have the option to delete specific activities, or, your entire interaction history.
- You can also turn on/off future Gemini/Assistant Apps Activity from being saved to your account by visiting Web & App Activity section.
How-to Turn-Off Google Assistant
Google offers you option to turn off Google’s Digital Assistant (including Gemini), if you do not want to completely remove Google’s Digital Assistant from your phone, but rather you just don’t want to use it, then, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your Android device
- Scroll down and tap on Google App
- Tap on All Services
- Tap on Search, Assistance and Voice
- Tap on Google Assistant
- Tap on Digital assistants from Google
- You will see that “Google Assistant” will likely be selected. To turn it off, press on the link “You can turn off your digital assistant from Google at anytime”
- Dialog box will appear. Select “Turn Off

At this stage, you’ve just turned off Google Assistant in your Google App. This means, when using any of Google services/products Google Assistant won’t be available for you to use.
How-to Disable Assistant App
If your App Management section shows you “Assistant” which is a seperate App, you can also disable that too.
- Open the Settings app on your Android device
- Scroll down and tap on Apps (or App Management)
- Find Assistant App
- Select “Force Stop” and “Disable”

Clear Other Google’s Digital Assistant Activity History
If you’ve previously used or interacted with Google’s Digital Assistant using your voice, or by using other Google Products such as Google Maps, you may want to check (or even delete) Google’s stored data about your usage. There you can view all your past interactions you’ve made with Gemini or Google’s Digital Assistant
- Go to My Activity
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/assistant (for Assistant)
- Go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini (for Gemini)
- Go to Voice and Face Match enrolment
- Go to myactivity.google.com/more-activity (e.g. Google Assistant routines, Assistant memory, ‘Hold for Me’, ‘Direct My Call’ and ‘Call Screen’ shared audio etc.)
You have the option to delete specific activities, or, your entire interaction history. You can also turn on/off future Gemini/Assistant Apps Activity from being saved to your account in the future by visiting Web & App Activity section.
