How-to Turn Off Gemini on Android

UPDATE (OCTOBER 2026). Gemini is replacing Google’s Default AI Digital Assistance. I’ve created updated tutorials that will make sure that your Android Phone does NOT use ANY Digital Assistant App including Gemini. Here’s how:

STEPS to Follow:

These steps needed to be followed in this order

STEP 1

Go to phone Settings > Apps > App Management
Look for Google App and clear storage usage to delete data

STEP 2

Go to phone Settings > Google App

• Press “All Services”
• Press “Search, Assistance and Voice”
• Press “Gemini” (or if not there “Google Assistant”)
• (((Press on MORE or scroll down the page)))
• Select “No Thanks”

This then Turns Off and Disables Google Gemini from your Android Device.

STEP 3

Go to phone Settings > Apps > App Management
Look for Assistant (if there press on it)

• First clear storage usage to clear data to delete stored data.
• Press “Force Stop”
• Press “Disable”

OPTIONAL STEP

Go to phone Settings > Apps > App Management
Look for Gemini (if there press on it)

• First clear storage usage to clear data to delete stored data.
• Press “Force Stop”
• Press “Uninstall”

Clear Other Google’s Digital Assistant Activity History

If you’ve previously used or interacted with Google’s Digital Assistant using your voice, or by using other Google Products such as Google Maps, you may want to check (or even delete) Google’s stored data about your usage. There you can view all your past interactions you’ve made with Gemini or Google’s Digital Assistant

• Go to My Activity
• Go to myactivity.google.com/product/assistant (for Assistant)
• Go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini (for Gemini)
• Go to Voice and Face Match enrolment
• Go to myactivity.google.com/more-activity (e.g. Google Assistant routines, Assistant memory, ‘Hold for Me’, ‘Direct My Call’ and ‘Call Screen’ shared audio etc.)

You have the option to delete specific activities, or, your entire interaction history. You can also turn on/off future Gemini/Assistant Apps Activity from being saved to your account in the future by visiting Web & App Activity section.

By following these steps, you can easily manage where and when you want to interact with a Digital Assistant, giving you more control over your digital footprint.
