How to SEO in 2018
Another new and exciting year is just around the corner, and as always those who are starting to learn about search engine optimization in 2018 may ask how to SEO in 2018?
First Rule to Learn About SEO
1. Follow Google Webmaster Guidelines
Google has strict guidelines for website owners, basically, it requires that you create mobile friendly website and make your web pages accessible for Google search engine crawlers.
Basics of On Page SEO
2. Help visitors use your pages
First you create targeted content (especially if you are beginning to build your website authority online) that is targeted, for example: if you are blogging (which you should in 2018) you could create a content about how your day was productive. Or, you could create content around keywords which is searched by your ideal audience. And you can do that through thorough keyword research.
Targeted and Optimized Content Creation
3. Conduct Manual Keyword Research
Then you create content according to the keywords you identified. But critically, realize that your website must present that content so that it is easy to consume as well as enjoyable for your website visitors. 4. Optimize Landing Pages
Mobile Device Compatibility
5. Create a Mobile Responsive Website
Your website must be fully accessible on mobile devices and smart phones because Google is heavily targeting mobile device market and will reward websites that are mobile friendly. However, just because your website passes the mobile friendly testing tool doesn’t mean that its mobile friendly. Instead, conduct usability testing on mobile devices and see the interaction a typical visitor will have when using their mobile device.
AMP Pages are Becoming Important in 2018
6. Use Accelerated Mobile Pages
My opinion for AMP pages has changed as to its benefits, although thousands of websites are not AMP compatible, considering the scale of websites competing in online business arena means that you want to stay ahead and results I got from an AMP’ed website is looking good already. Meaning, Google is already favoring AMP sites over non-AMP versions.
Keep in mind that just using Accelerated Mobile Pages isn’t the only answer because, you still have to make sure to cater for:
- Optimize Your Website Fully so that It is Fast Loading
- Make Sure Your Website is Mobile Friendly and Responsive
When you follow the advice above, then, you can rest assured in confidence knowing that your website uses just one version and also provides great user experience regardless of the device used by your visitors. Exception to this rule is that if your target audience uses internet connection speeds that are slow and if your competitors are using AMP (then surely you can consider AMP for better user experience)
Structured Data for SEO
7. Add Structured Data for SEO
Because major search engines now support and understand schema markup structured data basically means that you can and should make sure that your web site is fully structured using either schema.org Microdata or JSON-LD.
As these are SEO trends for 2018 but always remember that before you create content, ask yourself, what is it that my ideal audience wants to find online, is it how to’s, manuals and usage guides, where is the address for certain nearby landmarks, where is, what is, why is type of content will always help you build a resource website.
And that’s what you should focus on becoming the resource website. Thank you for learning with RankYa and sharing this blog post.
